The Sokoto State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially nominated Honourable Bello Isah Ambarura as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Ambatura, currently representing the Illela/Gwadabawa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, will serve as running mate to the party’s gubernatorial flagbearer, Hon. Manir Dan’Iya.
The ADC, in announcing the selection, described Ambarura as a grassroots politician with an illustrious career in public service. Before venturing into politics, he rose through the civil service ranks to become a Permanent Secretary and later served as a Commissioner following retirement.
His political trajectory includes a stint as a state lawmaker, during which he held the position of Majority Leader, before his election to the National Assembly.
In a statement, the party’s Publicity Secretary for the Caretaker Committee, Hon. Lamir Aminu, expressed confidence in the ticket, noting that Ambarura’s extensive administrative and legislative experience would complement Dan’Iya’s vision.
“Ambarura’s nomination marks a significant milestone in our preparations for 2027,” the statement read. “We are presenting a capable, credible, and people-centred ticket that guarantees good governance for Sokoto State.”
The party appealed to residents to rally behind the Dan’Iya/Ambarura ticket, describing it as the surest path to transformative leadership.
Responding to the development, Aminu Abdullahi, Media Aide to the governorship candidate, commended party leaders and stakeholders for their unity and internal democracy in reaching a consensus on the deputy candidate.
“The adoption of Hon. Ambarura reflects the maturity and collective decision-making that distinguishes the ADC as a party prioritising the state’s interests above personal ambitions,” Abdullahi said.
He highlighted that the combination of Dan’Iya’s expertise in governance and financial management with Ambarura’s proven record in administration and legislative leadership would provide Sokoto with a balanced and competent team.
Dan’Iya reaffirmed his commitment to policies focused on security, quality education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, agricultural development, infrastructural renewal, economic growth, and transparent governance.
