The Kaduna State chapter of Christians United for Israel (CUFI) has called on the federal government to collaborate with foreign nations in order to curb the growing wave of terrorism across Nigeria.
Speaking in Kaduna on Sunday to mark Israel’s independence, the group’s North-West zonal coordinator, Dr. John Ikpeme, said: “It is my heartfelt desire that the country’s leadership will forge partnerships with the international community to combat terrorism. Nigeria is facing severe insecurity, which is affecting the wellbeing of citizens in every aspect of life.”
He lamented that modern life and civilisation have been overshadowed by terror, urging governments at all levels to rise to the occasion and bring an end to the activities of groups disrupting the nation’s peace.
Dr. Ikpeme noted: “Nigeria is blessed with both human and natural resources. With good leadership and absolute peace, Nigerians are destined to enjoy life. It is our duty to pray for the peace and prosperity of this land, so that together we may benefit from the blessings God has endowed upon this country.”
He reaffirmed that CUFI is committed to praying for the peace of Nigeria, as well as for Israel and the entire Middle East, in order to achieve absolute stability in the region.
Reflecting on Israel’s history, he observed that the nation has faced insecurity from neighbouring countries. He stressed that as a group advocating for peaceful coexistence, the situation in the Middle East should be a matter of concern and divine intervention, so that all parties may relate in peace and harmony.
According to him, in all of Israel’s past conflicts, the aim has been to eliminate extremists. He maintained that Israel rarely engages in war except to defend its territorial integrity.
Dr. Ikpeme assured that CUFI would continue to pray for the peace of Israel, adding: “Its peace means absolute peace for the entire world, and that is worth pursuing for the survival of mankind.”
