The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and a principal, alongside the killing of an assistant headteacher and a bike rider, in a terrorist attack in Oyo State.
The assault occurred on Friday, 15th May 2026, at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, LA School, and Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinele, in Oriire Local Government Area. The attackers struck while children were gathered for morning devotion.
In a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described the act as outrageous, barbaric, and heartless.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with these children, their teachers, families, and the government and people of Oyo State in this trying time,” the statement read. “Our hearts also go to the family of the assistant headteacher who was brutally killed, as well as the bike rider who was mowed down in this senseless attack on innocent children whose only offence is to seek education for the benefit of humanity. Every life matters and must be protected.”
The APM urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted children and the principal, enabling them to reunite with their families. The party also called for adequate security of lives and property across the state during the electoral season.
The party commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what it described as visionary, purposeful, and transformative leadership that fosters unity, stability, safety, and prosperity in Oyo State. It described the attack as cowardly and urged the governor not to be deterred, adding that the incident should spur him to greater service.
“APM stands with the good people of Oyo State in the quest for a strong, united, inclusive, and prosperous democratic nation,” the statement concluded.
