A group, led by Olasunkanmi Olayinka, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing dispute preventing a retired Air Vice Marshal, Abubakar Idris Adamu, from assuming office at the Military Pension Board.

In a letter dated April 22, 2026, the group described the action as an affront to the President’s constitutional powers and authority.

The group commended Tinubu’s administration for its “transformative efforts,” including tax reforms and actions against non-state actors, noting that such strides reflected his commitment to nation-building.

It recalled its longstanding political support for the President, dating back to 2007, when it backed former Lagos State governor, Raji Fashola.

Olayinka stated that the embattled appointee was duly issued a formal appointment letter by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, alongside commendation letters from the Minister of Defence and the National Security Adviser.

The group expressed concern that while others appointed at the same time had assumed duty, Adamu continued to be denied access to his office.

It urged the President to act swiftly to ensure the immediate resumption of the retired Air Vice Marshal, stressing the need to uphold the rule of law and the integrity of the office.

The group also noted that it had previously issued statements on the matter, adding that Adamu’s appointment dated back to December 4, 2025.
