Peter Okoye, the Nigerian singer better known as Mr P, has announced that he has officially changed his birth date.
In a recent post on X, the 44-year-old singer declared that he will now celebrate his birthday on November 30 — abandoning November 18, the date he has shared for decades with his twin brother Paul Okoye.
“Dear Family, Friends, and Fans, I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” he wrote.
“My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding. Thank you all.”
He had earlier hinted at the decision in a separate post, simply stating: “I am officially changing my birthday date.”
In the last few years, Peter, who was born on November 18, 1981, has been in the news due to his dispute with Paul, following the breakup of their music group Psquare.
The Okoye brothers first parted ways in 2017 after a disagreement on the role of Jude Okoye, their older brother, as manager.
In November 2021, they ended their five-year feud and held their first headline concert in December.
However, in 2024, Paul confirmed that the group had split again. He alleged that Peter was involved in his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Peter later raised concerns about alleged irregularities in their former management, leading to renewed public exchanges and legal disputes within the family.
