The Sokoto State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Wednesday night lost one of their members, Ibrahim Mohammed Goronyo of Aljazeera newspaper to the cold hands of death after a brief ailment, a statement jointly signed by the chairman, Ankeli Emmanuel and Secretary, Musa Ubamdawki confirmed.
The late Goronyo who was until his dead, the financial secretary of the chapel was also reporting for Aljazera and Standard Times.
Discribing his demise as a huge loss to the journalism profession in Sokoto, the statement noted that, Goronyo, while alive was a very active member whose primary focus were to ensure he justify his presence by publishing report from every event attended.
“The late Goronyo is not just a colleague but a very amazing individual whose presence always ignite homour, stirs discussions and always bring story scoops that are very plausible.
“He was such a very honest, straightforward individual, that strongly believes in saying the truth not minding whose ox is gored”.
While praying for the repose of his soul, the statement deeply commiserate with his immidiate family, the professional colleagues and all sympathizers, even as it prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant his soul aljanat firdaus.
The statement concluded by saying his remans will be laid to rest according to Islamic rites on Thursday morning at Arkila, Wamakko local government area, Sokoto State.
