The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council.
The decision was announced on Monday in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani.
According to the statement, the move is aimed at creating an enabling environment for members of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
“The dissolution is to allow interested cabinet members pursue their political ambitions without conflict of interest,” the statement noted.
The governor directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.
Zulum commended the outgoing commissioners for their service to the state.
He said, “I express my profound appreciation to the commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the development of Borno State and the welfare of its people.”
