Just days after the mass abduction of 177 Christian worshippers in the Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State, the community has witnessed another harrowing incident.
Reports indicate that four individuals were kidnapped during a fresh attack that has left the local populace in fear.
The victims were travelling from Maro Market on Friday evening when they were ambushed along the Maro-Kajuru route.
A source within the community confirmed the alarming details of the incident.
According to the source, the victims were travelling in a Peugeot Boxer, bearing the registration number DKA 680 ZY (Kaduna), when armed assailants forced them into the surrounding bush shortly after passing Kuturu Buzu, a mere few kilometres from last week’s site of mass abduction.
“The victims were returning from Maro Market when the bandits struck, dragging them into the bush,” the source recounted, highlighting the brazen nature of the attack.
This latest abduction has exacerbated the already heightened anxiety among Kajuru residents and neighbouring communities, who continue to express concerns about the escalating trend of kidnappings and the apparent impunity displayed by the bandits in the region.
Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to phone calls or text messages.
In light of the ongoing crisis, local residents are urgently appealing to security agencies for intervention, calling for immediate action to rescue the abducted individuals and prevent further incursions by criminal elements.
As the situation unfolds, the community remains on high alert, grappling with the harsh realities of insecurity that have become all too familiar in recent times.
