Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose believes that Siminalayi Fubara’s return as Governor of Rivers State, following the end of the state of emergency, should have led to an enhancement in his performance.

In an interview with Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ on Friday, Fayose remarked that he was ousted as governor and subsequently went into exile, but returned a better individual.

Fayose noted that President Bola Tinubu, like many others, has a disdain for ungratefulness.

The former Ekiti governor also rejected the assertion that the situation in Rivers State is merely politics taken too far.

He emphasised that the constitution lays out rules of engagement for every politician, pointing out that it is only when one strays from these rules that they start seeking public sympathy.

“The return of Governor Fubara should have made him a better person. If you made a mistake the first time, you shouldn’t go down that path again the second time.

“Politics is a game of power. No one will resolve political issues for you. With all due respect, let me clarify: Fubara is the one enjoying the office of Governor of Rivers State, not the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

“Some are suggesting it’s about Tinubu’s election. No! Tinubu’s election will come first, don’t forget that. Both Wike and Fubara will work for Tinubu. Two weeks later, there will be an election for Rivers State,” he stated.
