The District Head of Makarfi, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, has commended Governor Uba Sani for the reconstruction and modernisation of the General Hospital in Makarfi, describing the intervention as a landmark reversal of decades of neglect that has transformed healthcare delivery in the community.

Speaking during a statewide media tour of projects in Zone One of Kaduna State—led by the Commissioners for Information and Health—the traditional ruler noted that the facility, established in the early 1970s, had neither undergone major reconstruction nor received modern medical equipment for over four decades until the present administration intervened.

“For many years, our people struggled with inadequate healthcare services and had to travel long distances to access quality medical treatment. Today, that reality has changed,” Alhaji Adamu stated.

He said the upgraded hospital has restored confidence in public healthcare and renewed hope among residents of Makarfi and neighbouring communities. The District Head added that Governor Uba Sani had fulfilled a promise made to the people, and the facility now serves a wide catchment area beyond the local government.

A patient, Malama Sadiya Rabiu, expressed relief at accessing quality care close to home, noting that the upgrade has reduced both hardship and financial burden. Another resident, Abdullahi Musa, described the project as evidence of the administration’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, strengthening public trust in government.

The Makarfi General Hospital is among sixteen general hospitals currently undergoing reconstruction and modernisation under the Governor’s healthcare transformation programme. Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, reiterated that the administration considers healthcare a fundamental right and continues to invest heavily in rehabilitating and equipping health facilities, particularly in underserved communities.
