Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Southern Kaduna Professionals Forum (SKPF) has formally endorsed Senator Sunday Marshall Katung and Hon. Daniel Amos for re-election, citing what it described as their unmatched performance in office.

The endorsement came during a meeting in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, between the forum’s leadership and the two federal lawmakers, who represent Kaduna South Senatorial District and Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency respectively.

SKPF President, Arc. Samuel Yakubu, said the decision followed a review of the legislators’ achievements, including constituency projects, legislative contributions, and people-centred interventions across the region. The forum, which comprises professionals from law, architecture, journalism, medicine, academia, quantity surveying, and security, argued that both lawmakers had set a new benchmark for representation.

“Senator Katung and Hon. Amos have not only fulfilled their mandates but have redefined what it means to truly represent the people,” the forum said in a statement.

Specific projects cited include the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan. The forum noted that Senator Katung, despite serving in opposition, delivered these major initiatives alongside other impactful bills.

The group warned against “unnecessary political contestation driven by personal ambition rather than public interest,” stating that any challenge to performing lawmakers must be based on superior ideas and a clear development agenda. It also expressed concern that such moves could weaken the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southern Kaduna.

The forum urged traditional rulers, stakeholders, and the electorate to prioritise continuity and stability, adding that it would mobilise support across the eight local government areas of Kaduna South for the re-election bids.

In response, Senator Katung thanked the forum and called for massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, noting that continuity at federal and state levels was critical to regional development.

“I am in this race for the good of the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District. Together, we will consolidate on the gains recorded and deliver more results,” he said.

Hon. Daniel Amos described effective representation as a service to God and humanity, adding: “Despite the challenges, we have demonstrated effective leadership and quality representation in the 10th National Assembly.”
