The Southern Kaduna People’s Union Association has called on governments at all levels to take urgent steps to secure the immediate and safe release of villagers abducted in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

No fewer than 166 villagers were reportedly kidnapped last Sunday while worshipping during a church service in the community.

The victims were said to have been forcefully taken away by armed Fulani terrorists in what residents described as another deadly attack on defenceless rural communities.

In a statement signed by its National President, Engr. Samuel Kato Tabara, SOKAPU condemned the abduction, describing it as evil, barbaric and completely unacceptable.

Tabara said the incident underscored the worsening security situation in Southern Kaduna, stressing that continued attacks threatened peace, safety and coexistence in the area.

He urged governments at all levels to rise to their constitutional responsibilities by taking decisive and coordinated action to rescue the abducted villagers without delay.

While commending the Kaduna State Governor for his prompt response and commitment to peace, the SOKAPU leader called for intensified security operations in Kajuru and adjoining communities.

He specifically demanded the construction of access roads and the establishment of police outposts in and around Kurmin Wali to boost security presence and deter future attacks.

The association also called for proactive, intelligence-driven security measures and long-term interventions to halt persistent killings, kidnappings and displacement of rural communities in Southern Kaduna.

SOKAPU said it stood in solidarity with the people of Kurmin Wali and would continue to demand justice, safety and lasting peace for affected communities. If you want, I can tighten it further to match Punch word-count limits or rewrite the headline for a more aggressive front-page angle.
