The Executive Chairman of Zango-Kataf Local Government Area, Engr. Joseph Bege Gaiya, on Saturday, flagged off the distribution of building materials to 169 households affected by banditry attacks in the area.

Speaking during the exercise held in Zonkwa, the council boss said the gesture was part of efforts to support the resettlement and rebuilding of communities whose homes and infrastructure were destroyed during coordinated attacks by suspected armed bandits.

Engr. Gaiya listed the benefiting communities to include Gora/Kacecere, Kacecere/Hausa, Kacecere Atyap, Gora, Jankasa, Ungwan Rohogo, Kurmin Masara, Ungwan Jaba, Atak Mawai, Zamandabo I and II, Gidan Karau, Ungwan Bayero, Ungwan Tella, Nok-Ashui, Fadan Tsoho, and Ungwan Doro.

He disclosed that the materials, comprising roofing sheets, cement, nails, doors, and other essential items, were carefully distributed to ensure the swift return of displaced residents to their ancestral homes.

“This distribution is part of our local government’s commitment to restoring hope and dignity to our people who have been victims of senseless violence. We are determined to see that these communities are rebuilt and resettled,” Gaiya said.

He also lauded the peace building efforts of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, noting that no fewer than five communities within the council have successfully returned home due to the Governor’s unwavering commitment to peace and security across the state.

“Our people are beginning to feel safe again, and we owe it to the consistent interventions from the state government. We are simply complementing that effort at the local level,” he added.

Some of the community leaders who witnessed the flag-off commended the council chairman and the Executive Governor of Kaduna State for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful, especially as many victims continue to grapple with the trauma and loss from the attacks.
