The Zamfara Cycle has criticised Governor Dauda Lawal Dare over what it describes as the persistent and worsening insecurity in Zamfara State.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Suleiman Isa Namoda, the group expressed frustration at the state government’s failure to curb the scourge of banditry despite repeated assurances.

Namoda said the crisis has left communities gripped by fear and despair as heavily armed gangs continue to operate unchecked.

The statement reads in part:’In recent weeks, Zamfara has witnessed a surge in coordinated attacks, leading to the abduction of scores of residents, the killing of several others, and the destruction of livelihoods.

“Just days ago, bandits invaded Banga village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, abducting more than 50 people, including women and children, and forcing many others to flee.

“Residents in Jimrawa and Kwarin Ganuwa have faced repeated assaults, unable to return to their farms or sleep in peace at night.

“Reports also indicate that parts of Zurmi and Anka local councils have seen fresh kidnappings, with victims still in captivity and families left to negotiate ransom payments without government help.’

The Zamfara Cycle also noted that despite the scale of the violence, there has been no significant improvement in the state’s security architecture.

“Critical areas remain without adequate military or police presence, leaving poorly equipped local vigilantes to face well-armed criminals.

“The people of Zamfara deserve more than empty promises — they deserve decisive and sustained leadership that prioritises their safety,” the statement read.

The group called on Governor Lawal to review and strengthen security strategies, collaborate with federal security agencies, and deploy well-equipped forces to high-risk areas.

“Anything less would be a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the people,” Namoda added.

The Zamfara Cycle pledged to continue supporting residents in their demand for peace, justice and lasting security.
