The Zamfara State All Progressive Congress (APC) Youths Forum has publicly condemned Governor Dauda Lawal’s purported attempts to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of political opportunism.

In a statement on Tuesday, the forum’s chairman, Musa Adams, described Lawal’s political approach as divisive, claiming it has undermined the state’s unity.

“Dauda Lawal’s biased approach to politics has disrupted the state’s recent unity,” Adams said.

The forum expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to secure victories in Zamfara and the Northwest without Lawal’s support, citing Tinubu’s 2023 electoral success in the state.

“Zamfara State APC possesses political relevance to deliver Asiwaju again in 2027, Insha Allah,” Adams added.

Speculation has arisen that Lawal may be seeking APC membership or a political collaboration with Tinubu, possibly by inviting APC leaders to project commissioning events. The forum dismissed such moves as tactical ploys.

Adams accused Lawal of harbouring animosity towards APC leaders, particularly following Tinubu’s appointment of H.E. Bello Matawalle.

He further alleged that the governor has neglected rural communities grappling with hunger, poverty, and insecurity.

“We do not support Dauda Lawal’s involvement with the APC or President Tinubu’s political campaign,” the statement read, underscoring the party’s strong position in the state.

The APC currently holds two of Zamfara’s three senatorial seats and five of seven House of Representatives seats, bolstering the forum’s confidence in a 2027 victory.

“Zamfara State APC is poised to win, God willing,” Adams concluded.

The forum called for presidential intervention to address Zamfara’s security and development challenges but maintained that Lawal’s involvement is unnecessary for Tinubu’s political ambitions in the state.
