It is believed that during a cesarean operation performed on Mrs Joy three weeks ago, doctors at the hospital left a large towel inside her belly.

Due to severe lower abdominal pains, Mrs Joy was later rushed to a Private Hospital called ‘Grace Land’ after the initial surgery.

Upon her arrival at the Private Hospital, she was immediately taken to the operating theater.

A team of surgeons, led by Dr. Thot, discovered the towel inside her belly during the procedure.

The Executive Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon Nasara Rabo, confirmed the incident and expressed his concern over the matter.

He stated that the Council has taken immediate action by completely withdrawing the Managing Director of the Hospital.

Additionally, the matter has been reported to the Ministry of Health, who has established a fact-finding committee, including Hon. Nasara Rabo, to investigate the incident thoroughly.

Hon Nasara Rabo expressed his deep sympathy for the victim’s family, stating that they are devastated by the tragic loss.

He emphasized the need for justice to be served, not only to provide closure for the bereaved family but also to serve as a deterrent to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Rabo also emphasized the importance of holding medical practitioners accountable for their actions and ensuring that they perform their duties professionally.

The Chairman reiterated his commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that innocent lives are not lost due to negligence.

He stressed that it is unacceptable for precious lives to be wasted at the hands of medical professionals who fail to uphold their professional responsibilities.

At present, Elanza News reports that the deceased has yet to be buried, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The Ministry of Health, along with the fact-finding committee said it is dedicated to uncovering the truth and taking appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
