Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), believes that the impressive work being done by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the FCT, has effectively thwarted the coalition efforts to challenge his government in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Key opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, have united in attempts to form a coalition, yet they face significant hurdles in securing a platform for the next general elections. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the primary opposition, is currently mired in crises, leading many to doubt its ability to effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

During the commissioning of the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and associated link roads in Abuja, Wike stated, “The coalition is doomed to fail, and it has indeed failed. Your commendable efforts have dismantled it.” He committed to continuing his support for Tinubu’s government, saying, “Some will not be pleased; many were born to be unhappy. Under Tinubu, contractors now trust the government. Your achievements have eradicated the coalition in Nigeria.”
