Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho has revealed that he is awaiting formal approval from the Federal Government to launch full-scale operations of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network, targeting kidnappers, bandits and other criminals hiding in South-West forests.

In a statement released on Monday, the activist confirmed that all necessary documentation for the outfit’s registration had been submitted to the Federal Government. He also pledged full compliance with Oyo State’s recent Executive Order regulating private security organisations.

Igboho emphasised that the network is designed to complement existing security agencies, particularly in rural communities increasingly vulnerable to attacks.

“We have submitted all required documents for Iru Ekun Security Network and are only waiting for Federal Government approval, which will be granted soon,” he said.

He expressed readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army and NSCDC to flush out terrorists, kidnappers and hoodlums threatening peace, especially in rural areas.

The agitator commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its “resolute commitment” to tackling criminalities across the South-West and other troubled regions.

“We are also ready to comply with the new executive order issued by Governor Seyi Makinde to regulate private security concerns,” Igboho added, noting that without peace, socio-economic development and food production cannot thrive in rural agricultural hubs.

His remarks come amid rising concerns over persistent kidnapping and banditry, with growing calls for stronger community-based security initiatives across the country.
