A non- partisan Sociopolitical movement called The New Nigeria Movement (TNNM) National and Diaspora, has promise in ensuring that Nigerian with a collective drive has said that they are ready to defend Nigeria in fighting against vote buying.

Speaking at its maiden 2025 National unveiling ceremony in Haske Luxury Hotel, Minna, Niger State , by the National Coordinator Honourable Dr Kenneth, said the Movement will promote the interest of the mercies, in fighting against vote buying.

The convener of the group, who is also the National leader said the movement will also promote a sense of patriotism among Nigeria

According to him, they would not sit and watch things going wrong in Nigeria and that as they will carry out peaceful engagement through enlighten Nigerian , especially the youths , are ready to work with who ever is ready to help the mercies.

 

 

The group which is made up of all ethnic nationalities, different parties in the country, urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the antics of some foreign powers who may not want the progress and development of Nigeria.

“. We created this movement to explicitly prevent ourselves of sitting, watching and folding of hands while people damage the good name of our motherland within and outside of her territory, buy also selling voters card as a result of poverty.

On how they are going to achieve the objectives, the said they are going to promote a sense of patriotism among Nigerians, starting from the Grass Roots campaign, by bringing in a better leadership in all sphere of governance from ward leadership to the executive leadership.

He said, “We will sensitize the citizenry on the virtues of nationalism. We will promote unity amongst Nigeria.

Also speaking Aspirant Member House of Representatives Borgu and Agwara Constancies, Niger state, Honourable Murtala Haliru Dantoro said , Nigeria have not just unveil a movement but to begin a new chapter in our collective story.

 

He said the movement have answered the clarion call that echoes from every corner of our great Nigeria.

 

“We have seen the resilience tested by economic hardship. Our unity is tainted as our trust in our institutions eroded by a system that its priorities are meant to serve a few.

“We know the system is broken, please let us be the architects of a New Nigeria.I believe our diversity is our greatest strength, every tribe, every faith, and every region must see their aspirations reflected in our National Project.

Calling on vote buying he said “Now this brings me to a particular dangerous and insidious cancer that has plagued our electoral system;

 

Adding that Vote Buying is a practice that reduces the sacred act of citizenship to a transactional exchange, trading our dear future, for a few thousands of Naira or a bag of rice.

“Vote Buying is not an act of Generosity, it is a crime against democracy. It disenfranchises the component, the honest, and the visionary, and places the reins of power in the hands of those who are only interested in recovering their so called Investment.When a leader Buys a Vote, they are not beholden to the people, they are indebted to corrupt system that funded them.

” They will not build schools, healthcare syste, they will not build sustainable roads. They will not empower the Youth, they will fill their own pockets. They will not serve you, they will serve themselves. This is why we must stand together and reject it. We must show that our dignity is not for sale, that our vote is our voice, and that our future is priceless, he declared.

The New Nigeria Movement declares, in no uncertain terms, that we will advocate for terms that make Vote Buying not just illegal but impossible.

We must go beyond lamentation and towards action. We must become active participants in our democracy, holding our leaders accountable, and demanding the governance we deserve.
