The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of Kogi state governorship election.

Prof. Johnson Urama, the Returning Officer from the University of Nigeria, Nnsuka, unveiled the results at the INEC state collation centre in Lokoja, illuminating Sunday night with Ododo’s victory.

Usman Ododo’s stellar performance resonated through the ballot counts, amassing an impressive 446,237 votes.

The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Murtala Ajaka trailed behind, securing 259,052 votes, while Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 46,362 votes.

Declaring Ododo as the winner, Prof. Urama affirmed, “Ahmed Ododo, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and returned elected.”

Addressing concerns, Prof. Urama noted that the 16,247 cancelled votes in areas where the election didn’t occur would not substantially alter the overall outcome.

Usman Ododo’s ascendancy signifies more than a political victory; it embodies Kogi’s collective choice for progress.
