The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate in Lagos are set to transition to a new visa services provider starting August 26, 2024. This change aims to enhance the visa application process for all applicants.

In an announcement made on Wednesday, the embassy confirmed that applicants with interviews scheduled on or before August 16, 2024, need not take any action at this time. They can continue utilizing the existing platform, ustraveldocs.com, for their visa needs.

For those with appointments between August 16 and August 26, 2024, it’s important to note that while no immediate action is required, access to the ustraveldocs.com account will terminate after August 16, 2024. This means that any attempts to cancel or reschedule appointments will not be possible post this date, nor will applicants have access to customer support.

Key points from the embassy’s statement highlight:

– Applicants are advised to print their appointment confirmation letters before August 16, 2024. It is strongly encouraged to attend the scheduled visa interviews.
– In the event of a missed interview, instructions for rescheduling will be available on or after August 26, 2024.
– For interviews set for August 26, 2024, or later, applicants will need to create a new user account on the upcoming visa services website to manage their application details and communicate with customer service.

The embassy reassured applicants who have already paid their visa application fees. Those who have not yet scheduled an interview are urged to do so promptly and to familiarize themselves with the guidelines based on their specific interview dates.

For individuals planning to travel to the United States in August 2024, the embassy advises paying the visa application fee and securing an appointment as soon as possible. Conversely, for those intending to travel after August 26, 2024, it may be beneficial to wait until the transition is complete before beginning the nonimmigrant visa process.

Stay tuned for further updates, including links to the new visa services website and detailed instructions on creating your new account.
