The Faculty of Law in the University of Port Harcourt, has honoured it’s pioneer dean, Professor Kaniye Ebeku, for instituting an academic award for the overall best graduating student of the faculty.
The unanimous decision to honour Ebeku, who is also a two-time commissioner in the Rivers State executive council, was reached during a meeting of the faculty, presided over by the Acting Dean, Dr. Edward Bristol-Alagbariya.
According to the management of the faculty, the pioneer dean laid a solid foundation such that his works and legacies cannot go unrecognized, hence the decision to honour him.
Receiving the award, Ebeku, expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the Faculty of Law for honouring him.
The Professor of Law, who was represented by Dr. Solomon Ebeku, said the award recipient has served the Rivers State in various capacities, and is currently serving the country.
He said: “Certainly, he is a man who has contributed so much to the development of the legal profession, both nationally and internationally.”
