Our Correspondent reports that the training will last for five days and will be facilitated by JEBI Educational Services Limited to enhance the capacity of head teachers on leadership and good governance across public schools in the state.

The Director, of Human Resources, Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, Ahmed Sani, while addressing journalists on Monday during the training in Barnawa, Kaduna, disclosed that as part of the celebration of World Teachers Day, they were able to get support from UBEC to train 100 school leaders.

According to him, the event came at the right time when they were celebrating teachers to have a platform like this to build their capacity in terms of leadership and governance.

“The strategy we adopted was not to call only school leaders but also to pull in educational managers and policymakers to have a better mix of conversation.

“Our expectation at the end of the five-day training is to awaken the leadership qualities and leadership capacities of our school leaders; to build their strength, complement their weaknesses, and to expose them to International best practices as far as School leadership is concerned”, Ahmed said.

Earlier, the Director of JEBI Educational Services Limited, Mr Inuwa Bahago, while addressing the participants, urged them to make judicious use of the training, noting that teaching is the best profession and there was the need to always enhance their capacity.

Inuwa, a former Permanent Commissioner at the Civil Service Commission, called on the participants to be proud of the profession and to encourage the young ones to join the teaching profession.

He said teachers should not be ashamed of their profession but ensure that the profession is given the needed prominence because teachers are the building blocks of a nation.

The Educational Secretary of Kajuru Local Government Area, who is also a participant, Mrs Joy Bulus, commended the Kaduna State Government for its effort, while she also appealed for improved welfare of teachers in the state.
