In a significant political shift, two members of the House of Representatives, Kabiru Usman and Abdullahi Sani, who were elected under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as of Thursday.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defection notices during the plenary session.
Representing the Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya and Karaye/Rogo Federal Constituencies in Kano, the lawmakers cited “internal turmoil within the NNPP” as the primary reason for their departure.
In a related development, Oluwole Oke, who represents the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in Osun State, also publicly declared his switch to the APC.
The plenary session was attended by the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who showed his support for the defectors.
