The rescue operation was carried out swiftly and was based on intelligence gathered on 13 December 2025 at Torikegha Village, located within the Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government Area.

This operation was prompted by credible intelligence received by troops stationed at Kufai Amadu regarding the abduction of a woman in the vicinity. Acting promptly on this information, the troops mobilised and advanced towards the affected community.

According to a statement from Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the Public Relations Officer for the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, further investigation upon arrival revealed that the victim was Iloda Ayinba.

Ayinba, a resident of Torikegha Village, had been kidnapped while on her way to her farm by suspected criminals believed to be herdsmen relocating from the area.

The troops tactically traced the criminals’ escape routes, conducting an aggressive search and rescue operation across the surrounding terrain, extending to the power line corridor between Benue and Taraba States.

Under sustained pressure from the advancing troops, the kidnappers abandoned the victim in the bush and fled.

She was rescued unharmed and subsequently handed over to the village leaders, who expressed their gratitude to the Nigerian Army for the timely intervention.

In response to this development, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens, farmers, and residents throughout Taraba State.

He emphasised that the Brigade remains dedicated to carrying out robust operations to guarantee a peaceful and secure festive season, allowing farmers to pursue their lawful activities without fear or intimidation.
