Troops from the 1 Brigade, part of the Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, engaged in Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully eliminated multiple terrorists, including the infamous bandit leader Alhaji Ma’oli, in Zamfara.
This information was disclosed in a statement released on Friday in Gusau by Lt. Col. Abdullahi Abdullahi, the Coordinator for the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma.
The operation took place on December 26 in Maisheka village, located near Kunchin Kalgo town within the Tsafe Local Government Area.
“This region has long suffered under the tyranny of Ma’oli,” the statement noted.
Ma’oli was notorious for imposing illegal taxes on residents of Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, and neighboring communities in Bilbis, Tsafe LGA.
The elimination of Ma’oli has provided significant relief and joy to the local population in the Bilbis area, Abdullahi remarked.
“The operation was launched following intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists on motorcycles operating within the Bilbis axis of Tsafe LGA,” the statement further explained.
The swift actions of the Operation Fansan Yamma troops not only foiled the terrorists’ plans to attack local residents but also underscored their commitment to securing the region against future violence.
Operation Fansan Yamma remains dedicated to its mission of pursuing and neutralizing all remaining terrorists and their collaborators within the Joint Task Force Theatre of Operation.
The Joint Task Force will continue to collaborate closely with local communities to foster enduring peace and security throughout Zamfara and beyond.
