LAGOS – A fatal collision involving two Toyota Sienna vehicles on the Third Mainland Bridge has left one woman dead and four others seriously injured.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday near Iyana-Iworo, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

Spokesperson Olawale Afolabi confirmed that both vehicles were commercial and fully loaded at the time of the incident. Injured victims were swiftly evacuated to a nearby trauma centre for urgent medical care.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that reckless driving by one Toyota Sienna triggered the crash, leading to a head-on collision between the two vehicles,” Mr Afolabi said.

LASEMA’s Tiger Squad from the C3 Command was activated at approximately 7:26 a.m. and arrived on the scene around 8:00 a.m. to coordinate rescue and recovery efforts. Officers worked alongside police and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to secure the area, manage traffic, and clear wreckage.

LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, described the incident as preventable and urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations. He cautioned against excessive speed and dangerous overtaking, while emphasising lane discipline and cooperation with traffic managers.
