A fatal road traffic accident in Kyaramma village, within the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has resulted in the deaths of nine people.

As reported by the Jigawa State Police Command, the accident occurred on Saturday at approximately 2 pm and involved two Golf 3 saloon vehicles, leaving several others injured.

In a statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Shiisu Adam, it was revealed that one of the vehicles, bearing the registration number Kaduna MKA 687 AY, was operated by Adamu Sunusi, a 35-year-old resident of Hadejia LGA, who was en route from Abuja to Gujungu town.

Initial investigations suggest that the collision occurred after one of the drivers lost control, leading both cars to veer off the road. The police acted quickly, and those injured were taken to Ringim General Hospital for medical attention.

Commissioner of Police, CP A.T. Abdullahi, extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased and expressed hopes for a swift recovery for the injured. He urged motorists to comply with traffic laws, refrain from speeding, and ensure their vehicles are fit for the road to avert such incidents.

“Currently, eleven passengers are being treated at the hospital and are showing positive signs of recovery. Efforts are ongoing to identify all victims and notify their families,” the statement noted.

The police have assured the community that further information will be shared as the investigation progresses.
