A 43-year-old man, known only as Kazeem, has tragically jumped into a domestic well in Ilorin, Kwara State, following substance abuse.

As reported by Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, the incident occurred last Friday in the Ile Alapo area of Ilorin. The fire service received an emergency call at approximately 10:29 AM, alerting them to the situation.

Adekunle stated, “Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters were promptly dispatched to the scene, where they successfully retrieved the body from the well.”

It has been revealed that the individual jumped into the well while under the influence of a potent substance known as Colo (Colorado), shortly after returning from Eid prayers.

The body was subsequently handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos from the C Division Police Station in Ilorin. The ministry is now awaiting formal identification and retrieval of the body by the victim’s family.

In light of this incident, Adekunle urged local residents to avoid drug abuse, emphasising that such behaviour can lead to devastating consequences.
