Muhammed Suleiman, a banker recently elevated to the role of Regional Manager at Union Bank PLC, was tragically shot and killed three weeks following his promotion.

The incident occurred on August 4 while Suleiman was traveling from Kaduna to Katsina as part of his professional duties. The details surrounding his murder remain unclear.

In response to this shocking event, his colleagues from the Federal Government College, Kaduna Old Students Association (FEGOKOSA), have urged Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Egbetokun, to launch an investigation into Suleiman’s death.

During a press briefing in Lagos on Friday, FEGOKOSA President Mr. Seyi Gambo emphasized the need for a thorough examination of claims suggesting that bandits were responsible for the attack. He was joined by Binta Mora, FEGOKOSA Secretary, Uchenna Orazulike Nnoli, Global President of the Federal Government College Ugwolawo Old Students Association, and Williams, as they collectively stressed that insecurity should not be normalized in the nation.

“Security must be our foremost priority in this country. Only when we ensure safety can we discuss development, education, business, and nation-building. Without security, nothing else can thrive. The security challenges facing Nigeria demand our collective attention. The suffering of one community should resonate with all Nigerians, regardless of region. We must unite—one for all, and all for one,” he stated.

Gambo called on the Nigeria Police Force to keep the family, colleagues of the deceased, and the public informed about the investigation’s progress. He urged the federal government, security agencies, corporate entities, and citizens to join forces in addressing the urgent need for safety in the country.
