In a devastating incident in Yar-Doka, Damau district of Kubau LGA, Kaduna, local authorities have reported the deaths of 11 individuals at a block-making site. The police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the fatalities on Wednesday, detailing that the tragedy unfolded on Monday at approximately 1:45 p.m.

The alarm was raised by the village head, Alhaji Lawal Damau, who informed authorities that a sand collapse occurred at the site, leading to the fatalities and injuring several others. The victims were reportedly working when the sand gave way, overwhelming them.

Seven of the injured are currently receiving medical care at the primary health centre in the village. DSP Hassan indicated that an investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway.

He added that local and state officials have been alerted, and updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses. This heartbreaking event underscores the critical need for stringent safety measures at construction sites to avert similar tragedies in the future. Our condolences are with the families of those lost and all who have been affected by this incident.
