“In China, the President will meet with President Xi Jinping and will hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation,” the statement reads.

The statement adds that Tinubu will be accompanied by senior government officials on the trip.

During the state trip, Tinubu will also attend the 2024 forum on China–Africa cooperation (FOCAC) scheduled to hold between September 4 and 6.

The forum serves as an official platform for cooperation between China and African countries with the aim of strengthening the economic and political ties.

The forum holds every three years with the last one held virtually in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
