The incident, which occurred on Tuesday after a downpour, affected communities in the Yola North and Yola South councils.

While over 40 people sustained injuries, farmlands and critical infrastructure were also submerged, displacing families and disrupting livelihoods.

The agency said a rapid assessment conducted by its Yola operations office in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and other stakeholders showed that 13 communities were affected by the disaster.

“Displaced families are currently being sheltered within host communities, while some have been relocated to the flood resettlement camp in Girei,” it disclosed in a statement.

“Urgent humanitarian needs identified include food, shelter, medical support, and clean water,” it added.

The agency called on residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to early warning advisories as the rainy season intensifies.

The agency said it would continue working with ADSEMA, local emergency committees, and humanitarian partners to cushion the impact of disasters and provide timely assistance to affected populations.
