In a decisive move to consolidate unity within its ranks, the Elders Forum of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has issued a robust condemnation of the faction led by Victor Falack. The elders have categorically warned this faction to refrain from interfering in the party’s affairs, asserting that the PDP has remained united since 1999.

During a press conference held in Jalingo, Chairman of the Elders Forum, John Mamman, expressed grave concerns over what he termed an unfounded attempt by Falack to sow discord within the party. He remarked, “The PDP in Taraba has thrived on solidarity and collaboration; we will not allow anyone to disrupt this harmony.”

Mamman’s remarks were directed at the alleged factional claims made by Falack, which he deemed a “disrespectful affront” to both the PDP family and the people of Taraba State. He emphasised that no individual could claim a “fake mandate” to commandeer the party’s direction. His statement underscores a growing frustration among party loyalists regarding attempts to fracture their unity through baseless claims of factionalism.

The Chairman further clarified that the current leadership of the PDP in Taraba was elected by the party’s members through a transparent process, and any group attempting to operate outside this framework would not receive recognition. “We will not entertain any handpicked entity lacking grassroots support,” Mamman asserted.

Mamman also called upon security agencies to remain vigilant against any actions that could threaten the peace and stability of Taraba State. His plea serves as a reminder of the delicate political landscape in the region, where unity among party members is paramount for maintaining order and effective governance.

Despite recent defections that have raised eyebrows, Mamman reiterated that the PDP remains a formidable force in Taraba’s political arena. “We are confident in our structure and the unwavering support of our members,” he declared, dismissing concerns of potential fragmentation.

In a rallying call to party loyalists, Mamman urged them to unite behind the state leadership, currently helmed by Obidah Bitrus. He expressed confidence in Bitrus’s ability to steer the party towards success, reinforcing the notion that unity is crucial for the PDP’s future.

The Elders Forum’s strong stance against the Falack faction marks a significant moment in Taraba’s political landscape. As the PDP seeks to maintain its strength and cohesion, the message is clear: attempts to disrupt the party’s unity will not be tolerated.

This latest development highlights the ongoing challenges faced by political parties in Nigeria, where factionalism can often lead to instability and disillusionment among supporters. The PDP in Taraba is determined to navigate these challenges while reaffirming its commitment to the people it serves.

As the political scene evolves, the Elders Forum’s declaration serves as a reminder that unity and collective purpose are essential for any party’s success. The PDP in Taraba is poised to stand firm against divisive tactics, ensuring that the voice of its members remains strong and unified.

In conclusion, the Elders Forum of the PDP in Taraba State has set a clear precedent in the fight against factionalism. Their commitment to upholding the integrity of the party may serve as a beacon for other political entities in the region grappling with similar issues. As the PDP continues to navigate these turbulent waters, the focus will remain on fostering an environment of collaboration and mutual respect among its members.
