The governor had previously postponed his intended defection from 19th November, citing the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State as the reason for the delay. He expressed that it would be insensitive to engage in political activities while the country faced another security crisis.

Speaking at a press conference in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, on Sunday, Tukur stated that the governor had already been admitted into the party at the ward level, but the official welcome would not take place this month.

“December is already full of activities. We don’t want to inconvenience people across the state when families are preparing for Christmas and the New Year,” he explained.

Tukur further noted that Governor Kefas had met all the necessary membership requirements.

“The governor wrote to his ward executives, and they have duly accepted him. As far as party records are concerned, Governor Kefas is now a bona fide member of the APC,” he affirmed.

He also disclosed that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, along with the entire state executive council, had joined the ruling party.

“What you are witnessing is a natural realignment. Key stakeholders around the governor have aligned with him, and more are expected to follow. There is absolutely no cause for concern,” he remarked.
