Former Sokoto State governor and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of deepening insecurity, poverty, and hunger across Nigeria.

Speaking on Saturday during the party’s state congress, attended by a large crowd, Tambuwal argued that the federal government had little to show for its tenure beyond worsening living conditions.

“I firmly believe Nigerians have seen what Bola Ahmed Tinubu can deliver—if indeed they have seen anything at all. The reality is that this administration has only delivered greater insecurity, poverty, and hunger,” he said.

He also alleged gross mismanagement and diversion of public funds, adding that fresh loans would likely be used to influence voters in the 2027 elections.

On the economic climate, Tambuwal noted rising unemployment and hardship, asserting that most Nigerians do not want a continuation of what he called “misgovernance.”

He framed the 2027 contest as a battle between the President and his allied governors on one side, and the Nigerian people on the other. He also criticised the Sokoto State Government for failing to meet citizens’ expectations.

To secure victory for the ADC, Tambuwal called for sustained mobilisation, increased membership registration, and unity among proponents of good governance.

“Nigerians have seen how desperate this federal government is to suppress the opposition. But we stand firm—no shaking, no surrender, no retreat. Nigerians must come out to rescue their country from the APC’s bad governance in 2027,” he said.

The Sokoto ADC congress, conducted by consensus and voice affirmation, elected Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu as chairman, Alhaji Bello Isiaku Meagan as deputy chairman, and Kabiru Sarkin Fulani as secretary.

Other executive members include Kabiru Hali (vice chairman, central), Abdullahi Bafarawa (Sokoto East), and Sadiq Sayyina (Sokoto South), among others.
