The National Director of Welfare and Political Engagement for the Progressive Students Movement (PSM), Hon Comrade Awesu Fawaz, has called on Nigerian youths to shift from constant criticism of government to actively participating in nation-building.

Speaking in a statement released on Thursday, Fawaz urged young Nigerians to embrace positive virtues such as tolerance, patriotism, and responsibility in their communities.

“We strongly believe the youths are no more the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today.

“It’s time we stopped blaming the government and started contributing to building the Nigeria we want,” he said.

Fawaz emphasised that lasting change must begin with individuals, particularly the youth, whom he described as partners in progress for a better future.

The PSM leadership condemned the recent wave of violence in Plateau State, calling on the federal government to take decisive action against criminal elements threatening national peace.

“We must not use government as an excuse anymore. Positive and true change starts from us – in our homes, communities, and daily actions,” he added.

Fawaz, who also doubles as the CEO of X_Keyboss Kitchen, used the opportunity to congratulate the newly elected local government chairmen in Lagos State.

Special mention was given to Hon Prince Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan of Lagos Island Local Government, whom Fawaz described as a beacon of youth involvement in governance.

He charged the newly elected leaders to prioritise the welfare of their constituents and focus on infrastructural development.

“The performance of these chairmen will play a vital role in shaping the people’s decisions ahead of the 2027 elections. They must not take this mandate lightly,” he said.

He also urged political leaders at all levels to view their positions as opportunities to serve the people and build a more prosperous Nigeria.p
