The party in a statement signed by it’s Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, appealed to relevant agencies and the federal government
provide emergency food, shelter, and other essential necessities to those displaced by the Goronyo Dam flood

Amongst other appeal of the party is the deployment of medical teams to help prevent possible outbreak of waterborne diseases and provide treatment to those affected.

The statement while calling for thorough assessment of damaged infrastructure, which include roads, schools, and farmlands, urged the federal government to support the affected farmers with seeds, fertilizers, and other farm inputs.

Giving their advice to forestall repeat of such flood disaster, PDP called for urgent desilting and maintenance of the Goronyo and Bakolori as well as implementation of flood control measures, such as early warning systems and evacuation plans.

“Providing aid and implementing long-term solutions can mitigate the effects of the flooding and restore normalcy to the affected communities.

“We urge the Federal Government and Sokoto State Government as well as riverine Local Government areas to take immediate action to address the humanitarian crisis caused by the flooding.

“We also call on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders to provide assistance to the victims”. The statement noted.
