Governor Aliyu who maintained that the judgment was not just a victory for the people of Edo State, but a confirmation of adherence to democractic principles in Nigeria as a whole.

According to Aliyu,  the dismissal of Ighodalo’s appeal by the apex court, for lacking merit, clearly shows to the world that the Nigerian judiciary is truly independent and committed to upholding justice.

“On behalf of the good people of Sokoto State, I congratulate my colleague and brother, Governor Monday Okpebholo, on this well-deserved victory,” Governor Aliyu said.

“This is a victory for the entire APC family and for all well-meaning Nigerians,” he added.

A statement signed by Abubakar Bawa, the Press Secretary to governor Aliyu quoted his principal as while wishing governor Okpebholo a successful and rewarding tenure, added however that, he should remain focused on delivering dividends of democracy to all corners of Edo State.
