Sokoto Assembly swears in 2 newly elected members

The Sokoto State House of Assembly has sworn-in the two newly elected members following the Feb. 3 rerun election in two constituencies of the state.

The Speaker of the house ,Alhaji Tukur Bala administered the oath of office on the new members at the plenary in Sokoto on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawmakers were Alhaji Abubakar Magaji (PDP-Bodinga North) and Alhaji Bashir Dahiru (APC-Tambuwal West).

“I wish to request the suspension of Order 15, Rule 12, Sub-rule 1 of the House Standing Orders 2019, to allow the newly elected members’ entourage to attend the chamber for the stated purpose,” he said.

Speaking shortly after, the lawmakers expressed gratitude to their constituents for electing them to serve as their representatives.

They pledged their loyalty to the leadership of the house and its standing rules.
