Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has revealed why Northerners who supported the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the just concluded 2023 presidential election are fighting for the office of Senate President.

The former Kaduna State senator in a post via his official Twitter page, said since Northerners helped the former Lagos State governor to win the presidential election, they want the senate seat in order to checkmate the President-elect.

He revealed that it is a good political strategy but it is like being in love and also being in doubt and living in fear.

According to him, true love is supposed to be blind.

Recall that they have been calls to zone the Senate presidency to the South for religious balance since the President-elect and vice presidential elect are both Muslims.

However, politicians from the Northern part of the country are against yielding the seat to a Southerner claiming that the North has sacrifice alot for the country and that the President-elect would not have won the election if not for their support

He wrote, “The Northerners who supported Asiwaju to the throne are now saying they want the Senate Presidency in order to Checkmate him. It’s a good political strategy. But it’s like being in love and also being in doubt & living in fear. True love supposed to be blind.
