Seyi Law, the stand-up comedian, has tackled Isaac Fayose, the brother of the former Ekiti governor, for demanding the immediate resignation or impeachment of President Bola Tinubu over economic hardship.

In a now-viral video, Fayose claimed that Lagos roads are now free of traffic because of the struggling economy and that citizens can no longer afford petrol to drive their cars, citing the massive hike in fuel pump prices.

“Even Lagos state roads that are always busy are now empty, pøverty has made everyone park their cars. President Tinubu should resign now, Nigerians are sûffering,” he lamented in pidgin English.

“Senate President Akpabio should impeach Tinubu now and save Nigeria. The judiciary is gone, INEC is gone, there is no hope.”

Reacting via his X account, Law dismissed Fayose’s claims and offered a different explanation.

The comedian argued that traffic has reduced not because of poverty, but because the government recently completed major transport projects.

“Anybody whose brain is functioning knows that since the blue and red metro lines started working and many roads were repaired and constructed for example the Lekki-Epe Expressway and coastal highway has caused traffic to reduce on the roads,” he wrote.

Seyi endorsed Tinubu as his preferred presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections.

The comedian recently faced public criticism after he claimed that the country “is currently safer under the Tinubu administration than it was a decade ago”.
