Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, visited the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force Headquarters in Maiduguri to offer condolences to the families of soldiers killed in a recent Boko Haram attack in Sabon Gari village, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State.

ELANZANEWS reports that the attack, which occurred on January 4, 2025, claimed the lives of six soldiers, while joint air and ground forces neutralized over 34 terrorists.

During his visit, Senator Ndume aimed to console the soldiers and their families, appreciate the military’s efforts in combating insurgency, and commend their dedication to protecting lives and property. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured during the encounter.

As the representative of the Southern Borno constituency, Senator Ndume has been actively engaging with military leaders to find solutions to the persistent security challenges in the region, particularly in areas like Mandara Mountain, Damboa, and Biu’s Mandaga Garau.

During the visit, Senator Ndume held a closed-door meeting with Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theater Commander of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’. The discussion may not be unconnected with the recent security breaches, including the attacks on Kauji, Wajirko, and Sabon Gari in Damboa Local Government Area in his constituency.

The Senator extended his sympathies to the Theater Commander and the troops, acknowledging the complexities of the security situation and applauding their bravery in the face of adversity.

“I deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of our officers and soldiers in ensuring the safety of our communities. Your resilience is commendable, and we will continue to stand by you,” Ndume stated.

Following his military engagements, the Senator visited victims of the recent Boko Haram attack in Sabon Gari, Damboa LGA, where he interacted with the affected constituents, empathizing with their plight and offering both moral and financial support to help them rebuild their lives.

This visit comes shortly after Senator Ndume completed a tour of the nine local government areas in Borno South, a move aimed at understanding the grassroots challenges and offering tailored interventions.
