Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South and serving as the Senate Minority Leader, has responded to allegations concerning his constituency projects outlined in the 2024 budget.
The controversy arose from a video by Andy Obeya, who questioned the management of projects totaling around N1.8 billion.
In response, Senator Moro’s office issued a statement dismissing the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
“Senator Moro has nothing to hide,” the statement read, emphasizing that the senator has consistently publicized his constituency projects.
It clarified that budget details are public knowledge and that no investigation was necessary to uncover these projects.
Among the projects highlighted:Uwokwu Electrification Project,Agricultural Value Chain Skills Acquisition,Electrification of Otto and Ago Communities,Road Constructions in Ugbokolo and Aikpla-Ihilikpa,and Health and ICT Initiatives.
The statement also criticized Obeya for not mentioning other significant ongoing projects, such as the construction of healthcare centers across several local government areas and the reconstruction of the Otukpo-Obi-Oju road, which costs over N6 billion.
It urged critics like Obeya to focus on constructive feedback rather than what they described as “distractive antics.”
The statement also called for collaboration between federal and state efforts to enhance development in Benue South, suggesting that political spats are hindering progress.
The senator’s team affirmed their commitment to transparency and inviting anyone with concerns to verify the status of projects directly with the agencies involved.
