A prominent civic group has commended the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr M.B. Shehu OFR, for what it describes as “bold reforms” and strategic leadership that are reshaping Nigeria’s fiscal governance landscape.
In a statement issued by the Coordinator of the Conference of Patriotic Nigerians (COPAN), Hon. Barr. Odieli Uchenna, the group praised Dr Shehu’s stewardship for bringing a new era of transparency, efficiency, and accountability to the Commission’s operations.
According to COPAN, the Chairman’s tenure has seen significant strides in revenue generation, equitable allocation, and improved fiscal discipline across federal, state, and local governments.
“These reforms are timely and crucial,” the group stated, noting that Nigeria is in urgent need of innovative financial leadership to address ongoing economic challenges.
Dr Shehu’s leadership has been described as a model of patriotic service, with COPAN highlighting his commitment to repositioning RMAFC as a key driver of fiscal reform and national development.
The organisation called on Nigerians and stakeholders in the public finance sector to support the Commission’s reform agenda, which they believe holds promise for sustainable economic growth and good governance.
“His dedication is both laudable and inspiring,” Uchenna added. “We commend him and urge continued backing for the Commission’s forward-thinking direction.”
