Rivers Crisis: PDP Leaders Are Guilty – Sule Lamido

Published

on

Former Jigawa state governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has berated the People Democratic Party (PDP) National Leadership for their failure to meditate into River state political crisis which now given a free hands to rapacious scavengers to key in with ulterior motives of stolen the party fortune.

Sule Lamido who was one of the PDP founding fathers expressed his anger against the party leadership in his Facebook page, and urged them to wakeup from their deep slumber to do what is expected from them before it become too late to the party

“PDP has all leadership structure including National Working Committee, but one shall wonder , how come their total absence in the saga playing out in the PDP Family in Rivers? Is the docility of the leadership of the PDP so comatose to the extent that President Tinubu of APC, our sworn rival and opponent is now the grand patriarch of PDP? ”

“It is inconceivable that a political party will simply sit back and allow its fortunes taken over by a rapacious scavenger, the APC. What President Tinubu did in the so-called peace meeting is not brokering peace in Rivers State, but using his office to enhance the fortunes of his political party.”

The PDP National Executive should feel sufficiently embarrassed if not slighted by the action taken by President Tinubu to reward a political mercenary with PDP fortunes in Rivers State.

“More to the eternal shame of PDP NWC that a tribal voice of Ijaws through Chief Edwin Clark press conference has to be deployed to challenge the illegality and unconstitutionality of the peace accord.”

“Like Chief Clark said in the press conference, if Tinbu as the then Governor of Lagos could stand up and fight President Obasanjo owesome power and personality and endure to overcome, can’t PDP do like wise? The PDP must take off from where Chief Clark started to fight this illegality through our justice system and all other legal means possible!”

If the National Executive of the PDP does not have the nerve to stand up and protect its own, it should honorably step down to allow for the election of competent hands” Sule Lamido declared

Alhaji Sule Lamido however urged the Rivers state governor Mr Fubara to not honour the documents he signed because it didn’t not represent the true and sincere political conflict resolution.

” Governor Fubara signed the document under an environment not friendly to real conflict resolution and it was presided by the force of fear, intimidation and blackmail. Therefore he shall shred the document and toss it into trash can.’ Lamido stated.

He added that, the so called peace accord in Rivers only planted the mines which will definitely explode in the not too distant future with collateral consequences on the entire national democratic system peace and stability

However the former PDP presidential aspirant accused President Bola Tinubu for neglecting his primary responsibility but focused on in his personal political interest against collective national interest and political stability.

“There are many areas yearning for peace in the country where President Tinubu’s political expertise, sagacity and wisdom is needed. What skills has he applied to stop the killings of citizens in Nigeria, which is his primary responsibility which he has conveniently looked away,”,This is very unfortunate ‘ Lamido declared

2027: Ex-Governor Okowa drums support for Oborevwori

Published

on

Former Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Saturday called on the people of the state to support incumbent Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori in his bid to return for a second term in office in 2027.

Okowa made the call while addressing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful in Ika North East Wards 3 and 4, at Boji-Boji Owa.

He said the call had become necessary because Gov. Oborevwori has demonstrated love for all people of the state and has initiated policies that were adding value to the lives of the average person in Delta.

The ex-governor appreciated the massive turnout of party faithful in the two wards, but frowned at the few PDP members who left the party despite their personal achievements and successes, which were largely traceable to the empowerment they received while in the PDP.

Okowa said that he was aware of the antics of those looking to deceive others but expressed confidence that party members knew those who truly meant well for them and their communities.

He lauded the decision of the party leaders in the local government to initiate a monthly contributory scheme aimed at empowering the people in the area.

He said, “It’s a thing of joy seeing party leaders coming together to extend ₦100,000 grants to each of the 100 persons drawn from the two wards.

“One hundred thousand naira might not be too much considering the state of the economy, but I do not have any iota of doubt that it will have an impact on the very micro businesses of these our people, even as it will also aid and encourage our farmers.

LP Lawmakers Haven’t Given Party a Dime Since 2023 Elections, Says Abure

Published

on

Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), says the party’s federal lawmakers have not made any financial contribution since the 2023 elections.

Abure spoke during a town hall meeting organised by the Lagos chapter of the party.

The LP national chairman also warned against the creation of parallel structures by some party leaders.

Abure said the LP has a single structure and that it is impossible for a party to survive with conflicting structures.

“It is a fact that they don’t respect the party, it is a fact that they don’t make contributions to the party,” Abure was quoted in a statement released by Obiora Ifoh, LP spokesperson.

“As I speak with you today, we have not received one kobo at the national level, from those we elected to the national assembly.

“The responsibility of running this party is still with the leadership of the party. As of today, we have 6 senators, about 30 reps members and numerous house of assembly members.

“But it will shock you to know that none of these lawmakers have contributed a dime to the party since their election in 2023.
