Amos, who also chairs the House Committee on House Services, made the disclosure while presenting his stewardship during a declaration event in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He separately highlighted a portfolio of infrastructural projects facilitated across the constituency.

The lawmaker clarified that the ₦1.7 billion covered direct interventions targeted at human capital development, including salaries and allowances for legislative aides, business support schemes, education assistance, healthcare aid and community welfare programmes implemented across all 23 political wards in the constituency.

According to him, over ₦750 million from the sum was expended on salaries and allowances for more than 240 aides and community-based assistants, describing the initiative as part of efforts to create employment and deepen grassroots participation in governance.

He further revealed that approximately ₦548 million was channelled into small business empowerment programmes, aimed at supporting traders, artisans and young entrepreneurs with start-up capital and financial assistance.

Social Welfare, Education and Health Support

In the area of social welfare and inclusivity, Amos stated that over ₦300 million was spent on religious and festive support for both Christian and Muslim communities, while more than ₦70 million was committed to cultural festivals and community engagement activities.

On education, the lawmaker said over ₦50 million was spent on school fees support for indigent students, while ₦3 million was used for the reaccreditation of secondary schools for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He added that approximately ₦25 million was invested in agricultural support programmes, particularly irrigation farming, to boost food production. In the health sector, Amos disclosed that ₦15 million was expended on critical medical interventions, including the sponsorship of a kidney transplant.

Infrastructure and Security Initiatives

Beyond the direct interventions, the lawmaker said he facilitated a range of infrastructural projects across the constituency, executed through government programmes and partnerships. These include road rehabilitation works, rural electrification schemes, installation of solar-powered streetlights, and provision of potable water systems.

According to him, over 2,000 solar streetlights have been installed to improve security and support nighttime economic activities, while several boreholes and water supply projects have been constructed to address water scarcity in rural areas.

On security, Amos said he provided motorcycles and logistical support to security agencies, renovated accommodation facilities for operatives, and facilitated the deployment of military personnel to volatile areas within the constituency.

Legislative Performance and Ongoing Projects

In his legislative capacity, the lawmaker said he had sponsored and co-sponsored several bills and motions, including proposals for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan and a Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia. He maintained over 70 per cent attendance at plenary sessions.

Amos further disclosed that key constituency projects such as the Kogum River project, the Arak I Bridge, and multiple rural electrification schemes were at various stages of mobilisation and execution.

“Our focus remains on delivering tangible impact across all wards through empowerment, infrastructure facilitation, and responsive representation,” he said.

The lawmaker pledged to sustain and expand development initiatives, stressing that more interventions were underway to deepen socio-economic growth across the constituency.
