The newly elected member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Hon. Joseph Bagudu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has pledged to complete the constituency projects initiated by his late predecessor, Hon. Ekene Adams, who died on July 16, 2024, after a protracted illness.

Bagudu, who emerged winner of Saturday’s supplementary election, gave the assurance while addressing journalists in Kaduna on Sunday. He said it was only fair to sustain Adams’ legacy, stressing that many of the projects were dear to the people of the constituency.

He described the late Adams as a “blossom friend” whose vision for the development of Chikun and Kajuru local government areas must not be allowed to waste.

“If I don’t fix my constituency, nobody will. I owe it to my people to ensure that the uncompleted projects left behind by my brother and friend are delivered. With Governor Uba Sani’s support, we will not only drive development but also tackle the insecurity that has deteriorated in many communities,” Bagudu said.

The lawmaker-elect lauded Governor Sani’s “peace and security model,” which he said would help restore normalcy in Chikun and Kajuru, areas that have suffered repeated attacks by bandits.

He also extended an olive branch to aggrieved members of the opposition and his party, urging them to join hands with him in building peace and unity.

“I will run an open-door policy and carry everyone along, irrespective of party affiliation. This constituency needs unity above all else. I will also ensure that the reward system for loyal party members, which collapsed during the previous administration, is restored,” Bagudu added.

Bagudu, who will be sworn in when the 10th National Assembly resumes, promised to prioritise security, youth empowerment, and community development as part of his legislative agenda.
