Idoma lawyers are demanding for the release of Obonyilo Peter Enenche and Abraham Daniel, who have been detained at the Keffi Correctional services for 23 days without being charged to court.

The lawyers, led by human rights activist Barrister Amufu Alexander Owobi, condemn the detention as a breach of the law and the accused persons’ fundamental human rights
The allegations against Enenche and Abraham cannot be verified under the Nigerian constitution, and the lawyers argue that the police claim of having a court order to detain the accused is questionable, as the matter was not taken before a court.

The situation is believed to have political undertones connected to the 2023 general election, involving former President Muhammadu Buhari, Peter Obi, and current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The lawyers have given the concerned authorities 12 hours to release the suspects or face a “legal war.”

It’s worth noting that Enenche and Abraham had previously accused Pastor Paul Enenche, the General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, of presiding over fake prophecies, sparking public discourse.
