The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Dikko Umar Radda has been declared winner of the governorship contest in Katsina State.
He polled 859, 892 to defeat his closed co-contestant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sen Yakubu Lado who also scored a total votes of 486,620 from the total votes cast of 1,386,, 427.
The returning officer, Professor Muazu Abubakar Gusau, who declared the candidate of APC Dikko Umar Radda, said he has certified all electoral requirements by law and he is returned elected.
According to him, “The number of accredited votes stands at 1,399,291 while the total valid votes 1,365,848, rejected votes of 20,579 and a total of vote cast of 1,386,427”
LEADERSHIP observed that the APC candidate won 33 out of the 34 local government councils of the state, while the PDP won only Kankara local government with 27,984 votes and APC 21,652 votes.
